Handbag

  • Free hand baggage up to 8 kg for all fare categories.
  • Permissible dimensions of hand baggage: 55x40x20 cmNote: Please make sure before traveling that your hand baggage does not exceed the allowable limits in order to avoid delays or extra airport charges.
  • Additionally, you can also carry with you one hand baggage or one laptop / tablet without any charge. Note: they must fit under the seat in front of you.

Checked Baggage

maximum dimensions: up to 158cm or 62 inches each for all fare categories | calculated by adding the length+height+width of the bag.

  • Infants 0-2 years old (up to one day before the infant turns 2 years old):
    permissible weight limit: 10kg (A long as the fare of the adult who accompanies the child includes checked baggage.)
    maximum dimensions: up to 158cm or 62 inches | calculated by adding the length+height+width of the bag. Note: The baby food considered as necessary, one foldable stroller or one infant seat are not included in the baggage check and can be carried free of charge.
  • Students and conscripts:
    total permissible weight limit: 28kg (23+5) (If the type of fare includes checked baggage.)
    maximum dimensions: up to 158cm or 62 inches | calculated by adding the length+height+width of the bag.
    You must show your valid student / military identification during the check-in at the airport. Valid for all domestic flights as well as for international flights to / from Stuttgart, Germany.

For baggage delivered at the check-in:

  • you may carry: personal items that are necessary for your trip.
  • we advise you against carrying: fragile objects, travel or business documents, pharmaceutical, jewelry and valuable items, personal computers and other devices, money, contracts and assets.

These items must be carried by you personally in a handbag, since, in case of loss, the air carrier bears no responsibility.
If you wish to carry in your handbag fragile objects or other items not considered as baggage, you should declare it during the check-in and sign the relevant form (Limited Release Form), by which you undertake the responsibility of the carriage.

Baggage that does not comply with the company’s baggage policy cannot be transported.

In case of the identification of the aforementioned items, they are confiscated at the airport and the company neither is responsible for delivering them to the passengers nor to compensate in case of loss. The carriage of such objects is allowed only in the baggage delivered at the check-in.

Carriage of liquids

  • In accordance with current regulations, the carriage of liquids in containers of volume up to 100ml is allowed in the hand baggage.
  • The carriage of liquids must not exceed 1 liter in total.
  • The containers of the liquids must fit in one (1) re-sealable, transparent, plastic bag.

  • Carriage of products purchased from the Duty Free Shops: The products must be placed in a special sealed bag, which is available at the duty free shops and which should not be opened before the baggage check. If it is opened, its content may be confiscated at the security checkpoint. Note:  Liquids purchased from the Duty Free Shops are calculated in addition to the quantities in the re-sealable bag mentioned above.
  • Pharmaceutical and nutritional products of liquid form (baby food), indispensable to the passenger during flight, are allowed to be carried in the hand baggage. Requirement: You may be asked to prove the indispensability of the products for your trip with a doctor’s certificate and prescription.

a: European Regulation which applies to all products in liquid form (water, drinks and beverages, perfumes, shampoos, creams, ointments, glue, lotions, contact lens solution, sprays, toothpaste etc).

Security personnel is required to ask you to surrender the products in liquid form that do not comply with the terms of the new European Regulation. Those items will be recycled as waste.

Carriage of foods

  • They must be properly packaged.
  • They can be carried only with the approval of Ellinair
  • In special wooden boxes with absorbent material to avoid possible leakage. Please take into account the limitations which may apply in different countries regarding import of food.

The weight of each baggage, together with the excess weight charged to the passenger, should not exceed:

  • 32 kg and
  • with maximum dimensions: up to 158cm or 62 inches | calculated by adding the length+height+width of the bag.

Damaged Baggage

In case you find damage to your baggage, you must immediately and before leaving the airport, report the damage to the Lost and Found department of the airport by submitting the following:

  • The baggage that has been damaged
  • The baggage tag
  • Passport or ID
  • Boarding Pass

Ellinair is not responsible for normal wear to your baggage, such as:

  • Scratches, dents, tears and stains and anything else that may be caused despite careful handling of the baggage.
  • Damage or loss to protruding parts of the baggage such as handles, wheels, zippers, straps, cases, locks.
  • Damage resulting from excessively loaded baggage or baggage packed incorrectly, including fragile items.
  • Items confiscated at the security checkpoint by the security authorities.

Items forgotten on the airplane

If you forgot something on board while traveling on one of our flights, please contact our lost and found office at the airport where your flight landed.

Although Ellinair is not liable for the loss of personal property on board, it tries to take the best care of found objects.

Found items are stored for 30 days at the airport where they have been found and then for another 60 days at our head offices.

Items which may be hazardous to public health, such as food and drink containers, hats and pillows are not stored at all.
