Travelling with infant

Infants (0-2 years old) are allowed to travel on our flights only when accompanied by a parent / legal guardian.

For children up to 2 years old, the following terms apply:
  • The infant must be under the age of two until the completion of the trip.
  • In the event your infant reaches 2 years of age during your trip, you must issue a separate ticket as a child, for the route during which the child reaches 2 years of age.
  • For infants to travel, they must be accompanied by an adult over 18 years of age (unless it is the parent).
  • For air travel of infants within Greece the necessary travel documents for identification purposes are as follows: passport or birth certificate with a recent photo certified by a competent public authority or the health card with a recent photo.
  • For air travel of infants outside of Greece, the only travel document required for identification purposes is the passport.
  • One passenger can travel with two infants, provided that a return ticket is purchased for a flight attendant of our company. The same applies for twins.
  • Infants up to 7 days old are not permitted to travel, unless there are medical reasons which must be proved by relevant medical documents.
Infant charges (0-2 years):
  • Infants aged between 0 to 2 years of age (up to one day before the infant turns 2 years of age) are charged 10% of the normal fare (in addition to the applicable taxes and airport charges).
  • Not occupying a seat
  • For a seat reservation, the cost will be 75% of the normal fare (in addition to the applicable taxes and airport charges)
  • The service fee (YR) is not applicable to infant fares.
Baggage

Infants 0-2 years old (up to one day before the infant turns 2 years old):

  • Permissible weight limit: 10kg (A long as the fare of the adult who accompanies the child includes checked baggage).
  • Maximum dimensions: up to 158cm or 62 inches | calculated by adding the length+height+width of the bag.

Note: The baby food considered as necessary, one foldable stroller or one infant seat are not included in the baggage check and can be carried free of charge.

Infant seating on the airplane: 
  • Infants do not occupy a seat of their own on the airplane.
  • During landing and take-off, as well as during any turbulence, infants should sit on the escort’s lap, fastened with a special infant seat belt, which is connected to the adult’s seat belt.
  • For your own convenience, you may reserve two seats. In no case are infants permitted to occupy their own seat during landing, take-off and turbulence.
  • The number of infants that may be on board each airplane depends on the number of oxygen masks and seat belts for infants available on the aircraft.
  • If you wish for your infant to travel in a baby seat (car seat) you must reserve a regular passenger’s seat by paying the applicable fare for children, provided the class of the selected fare provides for children’s fare.
  • You are also entitled to carry a folding stroller with your baby. The stroller can be transported free of charge, in the hold of the aircraft and not in the cabin.
  • The stroller may be dropped off at check-in with your luggage, or if you wish to use it further for transporting your baby, you may check it, before getting on board, at the stairs of the aircraft.
Infant seat (car seat):
  • If you wish for your infant to travel in a baby seat (car seat) you must reserve a regular passenger’s seat by paying the applicable fare for children, provided the class of the selected fare provides for children’s fare.
  • You are also entitled to carry a folding stroller with your baby. The stroller can be transported free of charge, in the hold of the aircraft and not in the cabin.
  • The stroller may be dropped off at check-in with your luggage, or if you wish to use it further for transporting your baby, you may check it, before getting on board, at the stairs of the aircraft.
The infant car seat must bear one of the following markings: 
  • The child restraint system must comply with all applicable FAA and JAA safety standards, as well as FMVSS standards. 
  • The restraint system must be certified for use in motor vehicles and aircraft and approved or comply as required, with all applicable FAA and JAA safety standards and/or FMVSS standards. 

Also, infant seats should be used on empty seats of the aircraft and escorts are forbidden from holding them in their arms. They should remain fastened to the seat throughout the duration of the trip, unless they are carried as hand baggage. 

It is forbidden to place infant seats:
  • in a seat toward the aisle
  • in the row of seats leading to an emergency exit
  • in the row of seats immediately before or after the row of seats leading to an emergency exit 
In addition, the infant seat:
  • Should be fastened before take-off and remain fastened until landing.
  • Can be used for infants and children up to 12 years of age, provided the weight of the child does not exceed 27 kg.
  • The base of the infant seat can not be larger than 40 cm x 40 cm, so it can fit in all passenger compartment seats.
  • It should have shoulder straps (2-point safety belt) for the infant.
  • The construction of the infant seat should allow for secure attachment to the seat belt of the aircraft and not prevent the front seat from reclining.
